The Vermilion Lions Club is pleased to announce that Gracie Starcovic is the March Student of the Month, and Maddie Stout is the April Student of the month.
Gracie Starcovic is another great example of a young lady who makes the most of her opportunities and excels both in and out of the classroom.
In the classroom, she sports an overall 3.3 GPA while taking many of the upper-level classes during her Senior year. She has been awarded the Lorain County Academic Excellence Award twice. She was a 2022 Sandusky Bay Conference All-Academic Team choice. She has been on the Honor Roll and Merit Roll in many of her semesters at Vermilion. She is also a member of the Leo Club and the Diversity Union.
Out of the classroom, her exploits on the volleyball court have taken her all the way to Columbus and the House of Representatives. In 2022, she was awarded special recognition for her accomplishments by The Ohio House of Representatives and was presented the award a recent Vermilion Board of Education meeting. On a more local note, she is a four-time varsity letter winner for volleyball and a three-time All-SBC award winner. She was also named a 2021 All Ohio third team volleyball player and 2022 All Ohio Honorable Mention. She was also named three times to the District 6 team award. She holds many records and awards from her years as a member of the Vermilion Volleyball team.
Outside of school she is a Little League volleyball coach and volunteers at the various volleyball camps through Vermilion. She also finds time to work at Neon Beach Tan and Main Street threads.
Many of those who know Gracie, including her teachers, might say she is, “Always happy and on task. She is a good and diligent student who’s serves as a role model for others.” Having watched her on the volleyball court and in the classrooms, others would say she is an excellent teammate and sets high standards that she helps others to liv e up to.
Gracie is the daughter of Adelle Nader and Scott Starcovic.
Maddie Stout is another outstanding example of making the best of what she has both academically and athletically.
In the classroom she excels with a fine 4.3 GPA and currently ranks 5th in her class. She has earned an academic letter and has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll each of her semesters. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Leadership. She also is a member of the Leo Club and Big Buddies.
Stout has taken her athletic exploits to Columbus, as well by being recognized by the Ohio State House of Representatives for her volleyball accomplishments. Many of her accomplishments have been over the last four years but most recently in her Senior Year she has been selected as Sandusky Bay Conference Most Valuable Player and the Player of the Year for both All-County and All-District. She was also chosen as Honorable Mention All-Ohio. She will be attending Seton Hill University to continue her career.
Off the court, she also has been active in volunteering for Camp Invention - a science club within the Vermilion Elementary School. She continually volunteers for Peer Leadership events and National Honor Society activities.
Maddie also plays Club Volleyball to keep herself in Volleyball shape.
According to those who nominated her, she is an excellent teammate and an extremely dedicated athlete who strives to be successful each day. Her teachers might add in that she is a hard worker and a very committed student.
Maddie is the daughter of Amanda and Kelly Stout.
