Students from Vermilion Sailorway Middle School will be attending Cleveland Ballet’s upcoming holiday classic, The Nutcracker at Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace Theatre in downtown Cleveland on Friday, Dec. 3 for the matinee performance. Cleveland Ballet’s Co-Founder, President and CEO, Michael Krasnyanksky has generously donated 100 tickets to the students at Sailorway Middle School. Middle School Principal Beth Bartlome intends to use the ticket donation as a reward for students who have had good attendance, grades, and been model middle school students. Ms. Bartlome was excited to offer this opportunity for her students to be rewarded with such a wonderful holiday tradition and she is thankful to Dr. Krasnyanksky and Ms. Guadlupe, co-founders, as well as the entire company and staff of the Cleveland Ballet for their generosity.

In September, Cleveland Ballet and the Harbourtown Fine Arts Center announced their newly formed partnership with a special performance by the professional ballet company to Vermilion residents. Beginning in summer of 2022, Cleveland Ballet will present an eclectic program of performances at Harbourtown Fine Arts Center to area residents as well as summer tourists. This summer residency will bring the beautiful art of ballet to Vermilion with performances in August and September 2022.

“We are delighted to expand our outreach to area students and continue to grow our strong partnership with the area residents and the town of Vermilion. We hope that offering area students a once in a lifetime experience to travel to Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland and become immersed in an enchanting production of a holiday classic will inspire the next generation of ballet audiences.” said Co-Founder, President and CEO, Michael Krasnyansky. “We are thrilled to offer such an opportunity for young students to watch world-class professional dancers from around the globe in this beautiful production and ignite in the children a love and appreciation for such a beautiful art form.”   The two-act ballet is based on the original story by E.T.A. Hoffman (1776-1822) “The Nutcracker and The Mouse King, '' with a musical score composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Guadalupe’s version of the production comes with a twist that will immerse audiences in the tale of Caroline and The Nutcracker Prince as they battle the Mouse King, dance in a glistening snow fall, and travel by a hot air balloon to celebrate in exotic and magical lands.

All five performances of The Nutcracker will take place at the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland (1615 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115): Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at 11 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. Vermilion residents interested in attending Cleveland Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker from December 3-5 can purchase tickets online at www.playhousesquare.org.
